As many as 20 health workers who treat COVID-19 patients in Tapin Districts were exposed to COVID-19.

The Director of Datu Sanggul General Hospital here on Saturday said that they consisted of 18 nurses and two doctors.

“There are a total of 375 health workers. Since July, there are 18 nurses and two doctors who have been exposed to COVID-19,” he said.

He affirmed that the treatment for COVID-19 patients is still running, while health workers who have been exposed to CO55VID-19 have been rested.

Head of Disease Control and Prevention (P2P) of the Tapin Health Agency Nurul Hidayah explained that the health workers who were exposed to COVID-19 had previously been vaccinated up to the second dose.

“The effectiveness of the vaccine is 65 percent (Sinovac) could be due to fatigue. But people who have been vaccinated do not worsen the situation. From some cases of exposed, alhamdulillah the recovery rate was faster than those who have not been vaccinated,” he said.

Seeing the number of health workers who have been exposed to COVID-19 in Indonesia, he revealed, health workers are planned to undergo another vaccination, namely the third dose.  

“Maybe in August a special vaccine for health workers will come, we have coordinated through zoom. There are over 1,000 health workers in Tapin,” he said.

COVID-19 cases is raising in Tapin. Last Wednesday (July 14) the positive case was 1,240, recovery 1,166,  being treated 26, and 48 died. 

Then on Saturday (July 24), the positive number was 1,397, recovery was 1,216, being treated 130, and people died became 91.

So, in 10 days there was an increase of 157 Tapin residents who were exposed to COVID-19.
