Through Kitabisa.com, Rumah Singgah Kita Foundation distributed 1,000 Qur’an donations for santri (Islamic boarding school students) in various areas in Central Hulu Sungai (HST) District.
The assistance was the result of fundraising held by Influencer Ogut Mudacumasekali and supported by thousands of good people who cared about the survivors of a major flood that occurred in HST last January.
Ogut said that he received news from various media that there was a big flash flood in HST. So he thought about raising funds for Al-Qur'an donation for santris and hafiz (memorizers) Al-Qur'an, including Al-Ittihad Barabai Islamic Boarding School (pesantren) and other santris in HST.
Through this fundraising, he was very confident that Qur'an waqf can help santris both from Al-Ittihad or in remote areas in HST. Moreover, they were both affected by the flood.
Welcoming this good intention, Kamarudin and other volunteers in HST helped distributed 1,000 Al-Qur’an to santris who really need Al-Quran.
“Alhamdulillah, we have distributed 1,000 Al-Qur’an to santris in several Islamic boarding schools, 40 Al-Qur’an Early Education (TPA), places of islamic study, as well as individuals who really need the Al-Qur’an from villages, city, to remote mountain in HST," he said.
Waqf of the Al-Qur’an was very needed because many Al-Qur’an were damaged during the flood.
"In addition to Waqf Qur’an, we also distributed 10 cupboards, 10 mattresses, 2 rolls of prayer mats, and 1 set of sound system for santris of Al-Ittihad Barabai which were entrusted by donors," added Kamaruddin.
