PT Indocement Tunggal Prakarsa Tbk on World Environment Day planted trees in three locations of its factories as proof of its commitment to protecting the environment.

Indocement Director & Secretary Antonius Marcos said that the company actively participates in protecting the environment, running an environmentally friendly business in a sustainable manner, as well as educating people to maintain the environmental sustainability.

"The planting of tree seedlings was carried out in Citeureup factory complex, Bogor, West Java, Cirebon factory complex, west Java, and the Tarjun factory complex in Kotabaru, South Kalimantan," he noted in a press statement.

As of June 2021, in the three factory complexes, Indocement has planted more than 13,000 tree seedlings of various types.

These include seedling of trembesi, kluwih, and teureup in Citeureup, mahoni, kesambi, asem, sonokeling, teak, kedawung, and jamblang in Cirebon, and mangrove in Tarjun factory complex.

Antonius said that green breakthroughs are nothing new for Indocement. Previously, Indocement has launched slag cement (Duracem) which utilizes the remaining production/waste from steel smelting industry as an alternative material.

Indocement also produces another green cement product variant, namely hydraulic cement which has a lower clinker ratio, thus it has lower CO2 emission than ordinary cement.

This is in line with the government policy through the instruction of the Ministry of Public Works and Public Housing for the use of green cement in infrastructure projects and others.

Indocement is ready to supply green cement, either in the form of supply of PCC product, duracem-slag cement, as well as the newest type of cement, hydraulic cement, which is as tough as OPC cement that is known today.

Indocement is one of the largest cement producers in Indonesia. Indocement and its subsidiaries are engaged in several business fields which include manufacture and sale of cement (as core business), ready mix concrete, and aggregate and trass mining, with approximately 5,000 employees.

Indocement has 13 factories with a total annual production capacity of 24.9 million tonnes of cement. Ten factories are located in Citeureup, Bogor, West Java; two in Cirebon, West Java; and one in Tarjun, Kotabaru, South  Kalimantan.
