The government of Banjar District decided to temporarily close all its tourist attractions for six days May 11 to 16, 2021.

Regent of Banjar Saidi Mansyur together with Leadership Communication Forum (Forkopimda) took the decision in a coordination meeting held at Mahligai Sultan Adam Martapura, Sunday. 

"The coordination meeting agreed to issue a circular containing the temporary closure of tourist attractions for 11-16 May 2021 and a circular on the implementation of Eid prayers which must apply health protocols," said the Regent.

Banjar has a collection of beautiful places of attraction, including the famous Lok Baintan floating market, Martapura diamond and gemstone market, and the people's forest park of Sultan Adam.

He explained that the temporary closure of tourist places was aimed at preventing crowds before and after Idul Fitri 1442 Hijriyah. The attractions have the potential to be visited by many people on holidays. 

"Tourist attractions, especially after Idul Fitri, are usually visited by many people, so to avoid the crowds they were decided to be closed so no one would visit," he said.

Secretary of Banjar M Hilman added that the closure was part of the effort to prevent the transmission of COVID-19. 

Meanwhile, Commander of 1006/Mtp Military Command Lt. Col. Inf. Imam Muchtarom said that his party together with Banjar Police and Satpol PP are ready to work together to carry out justisi operation. 

"Joint personnel will be deployed to a number of tourist attractions on D day and one day after Idul Fitri to monitor the implementation of health protocols in tourist areas, especially those visited by many people," he said. 

The coordination meeting was also attended by Banjar Administration Assistant for Government and People's Welfare Masruri, Head of Health Agency dr Diauddin, Head Executive of BPBD Irwan Kumar, Satpol PP representatives, and Head of Public Information Management Eddy Elminsyah Jaya.
