Martapura, South Kalimantan (AntaranewsKalsel) - Banjar District Government, supporting government policies to achieve food sovereignity by relying on domestic food production.

Banjar Regional Secretary Nasrun Syah in Martapura on Monday, said, the district through the Agency of Agriculture, Plantation and Livestock ready to work hard to realize the noble ideals for the society.

Currently, he said, the agricultural production in Banjar was satisfactory. Although in 2014 it experienced a decline in rice production by 4 percent, because of the harvest failure (puso).

"However, we are determined since the beginning of 2015 to increase agricultural production and plantation so that the production of rice, corn and soybeans could be self-sufficient," he said.

To realize an increase in agricultural production and plantation, Banjar rehabilitates irrigation networks, optimization of land and provision of seeds.

In addition, the district government will optimize the role of agriculture counseling team (PPL) through dissemination to farmers, so they can harvest the rice two or three times a year.

His party with the relevant agencies will study the constraints experienced by farmers, especially the problem of agricultural land, so as to improve productivity.
