Al Umm Care for People Movement (GPS) in Central Hulu Sungai (HST) District, South Kalimantan, builds 28 shelters (huntara or temporary house) as their participation in post-flood handling in the sub-districts of Hantakan and Batu Benawa.
"Today we inaugurate two completed shelters in Batu Tunggal Village, the rest are still in process," said Chairman of GPS Al Umm Muhammad Hasbi Ridhani, Tuesday (March 2, 2021).
In this village, to be precise in the neighborhood unit of RT 02, 12 shelters are planned to be built.
Hasbi said that shelter assistance is the continuation of the previous assistance and will continue until the life of the community is stable.
"We also provide shelters for residents in Alat Village RT 06 or Arangani for as many as 10 units, one unit in Murung B Village, and five units in Haliau Village," he said.
Head of Housing and Settlement Area of the HST Residential Agency Ahmad Syafaat expressed high gratitude from the local government to GPS Al Umm for helping build shelters for flood victims in Batu Benawa and Hantakan.
"The district government also built communal shelters, including one in Batu Tunggal Village for 10 families, one in Alat Village for 10 families, and one in Baru Village for 10 families," said Syafaat.
Communal shelters were also built by other communities. However, there are still many flood victims who lost their homes and do not have replacement shelters, and social or humanitarian communities are expected to help and participate.
