Banjarmasin, South Kalimantan (AntaranewsKalsel) - Head of the Banjarmasin Sanitary and Gardenig Agency Muhyar said as many as 50 houses in the neighborhood of TPA or final waste disposal Basirih will
get a supply of biogas.


According to him, a large source of biogas from TPA Basirih will be given free of charge starting this year to homes around the landfill in the sub-istrict of South Banjarmasin.

"This year, Banjarmasin city government began to build pipeline infrastructure to deliver biogas to the houses of the community. Approximately Rp200 million allocated for the construction of biogas pipeline," he said.

He explained that the use of waste into biogas program by the Sanitary and Gardening Agency (DKP) funded by local budget in 2012 was successful.

Evidently, he said, the management of waste into biogas not only for fuel, but also for generator as an alternative lighting around the landfill with a capacity of 5000 watts.

"There are a few lampposts in the TPA Basirih now using biogas eletricity," he said.

Meanwhile, the waste management now changed, not anymore using open dump system. "We averaged garbage and covered with soil, yielding a great biogas," he explained.

In addition to biogas, TPA fertilizer production also be getting big. "So much is now the result of landfill Basirih," he explained.

While the production of waste disposed to landfill Basirih began to decrease, with the start functioning of a number of Integrated Waste Management (TPST) in society.

"Because the waste produced by society sorted and recycled at the dump site, only a portion of the remaining that is disposed of to landfilL," he explained.
