Banjarbaru, South Kalimantan (Antaranews Kalsel) - Haruan or snakehead fish hit the highest price in Banjarbaru. It sold at Rp110 thousand per kilogram and the price remains since the last two weeks.

A yellow rice sellers, Udin, on Wednesday said, his regular trader sell haruan Rp103 per kg. While at the retail traders it reach Rp110 thousand.

Due to the high price of a favorite fish for yellow rice side dish, Udin, a trader at Jalan Taruna Praja, North Loktabat, Banjarbaru, did not dare to buy it for fear of losing. Previously haruan sold at a price range from Rp50 thousand to Rp60 thousand per kg. "If the price is penetrated to Rp103 thousand per kg, we do not dare to buy it, so we switch to the same type of fish, that is Toman. The price is also rising," he said.

The price of Toman also experienced an increase twice higher than the previous price, from Rp30 thousand to Rp60 thousand per kg. He did not know the cause of the rise in the price of fresh water fish, but he heard from merchants it was due to difficult to get the fish.

"The information from the merchant, the condition of the river is rising due to the rainy season so it was hard to get fish in their habitat that many live in rivers and swamps," he said. One of Haruan fish traders in the Bauntung market in Banjarbaru, Ardi, said fishermen difficult to get it, so the price shoots up.
