Mayor of Banjarmasin H Ibnu Sina said that the flooding in the city has not ended yet, although the water level on average as high as the ankle.

Ibnu Sina here on Tuesday said until the 20th day of the flood disaster in Banjarmasin the emergency response status for flood disaster management has not been revoked, because some areas have not dried up and there are still inundations.

The water discharge entering Sungai Lulut and Sungai Gardu from the large river, Martapura River, was still high, including in Sungai Andai, which caused the puddle to slow down to recede.

"We wanted to pump out the water with pump machine at the points of inundation, such as in Sungai Andai Ujung, but the water level is still the same as the river's water level, so we can't," said Ibnu Sina.

He said the average conditions were the same in areas where there was inundation, making it difficult for the city government to handle it quickly by deploying water pump machines.

"As in Pemurus Luar, Darma Bakti, Melati Housing Complex, and Simpang Limau, there are some in East and South Banjarmasin, but the average is still an ankle-high," he said.

Ibnu Sina said the city government keeps making effort to deal with the inundation, including by providing food assistance for affected residents.

"We are grateful to the donors who continue to provide assistance to residents affected by the floods, even from Aksi Cepat Tanggap (ACT) for providing thousands of tons of food for our residents, thank you very much," he said.
