Minister of Public Works and Public Housing (PUPR) Mochamad Basoeki Hadimoeljono observed the cut off bridge in Mataraman, Banjar District, South Kalimantan. 

He visited the site on Sunday afternoon accompanied by Head of the National Disaster Mitigation Agency (BNPB) Doni Monardo, member of House of Representative Rifqinizami Karsayuda, South Kalimantan Governor Sabirin Noor, and Banjar Regent Khalilurrahman.

His brief visit for about 20 minutes was to find out about the latest condition of the bridge, whose oprit was twice damaged by floods. 

The damage had caused the Trans Kalimantan road to be cut off. The bridge connects cities and districts in the province, especially Banjarmasin, Banjarbaru, Martapura to the Banua Anam (the six districts in the upstream area).

Minister Basoeki took a look at the condition of the connecting facilities between roads whose oprit had been cut off while giving directions to the officials accompanying him. 

He asked for the emergency bridgework to be carried out in order for logistics distribution can be distributed quickly.

Previously, the Secretary of Banjar District Mokhammad Hilman in Martapura on Sunday reported that the damage occurred again to the bridge at 4.00 WITA (Central Indonesia Time), caused the road to completely cut off. 

"Sheet file that was installed yesterday on the oprit was lifted because the damage at its lower part was widened after eroded by swift water. As a result, the bridge cannot be crossed by people or vehicles," he said.
