The Ministry of Transportation granted the District Government of Banjar a school bus which was received by the Regent Khalilurrahman at the Mahligai Sultan Adam Building, Martapura.

The grant was handed over by a member of House of Representative's Commission V from South Kalimantan HM Rifqinizamy Karsayuda to the Regent on Wednesday witnessed by the District Secretary of Banjar M Hilman, and other invited guests.

"South Kalimantan received the most school bus grants, namely 11 units and distributed to districts and cities, one of the recipients is Banjar," said Rifqinizamy. 

He said Banjar District Government was valued good in land transportation management, thus Banjar was considered worthy of receiving the grant to increase its transportation fleet. 

In addition to districts and cities, the ministry's grant buses were given to the University of Lambung Mangkurat, UIN Antasari, Nurul Muhibbin Islamic Boarding School, and Nurul Mustofa Islamic Boarding School.

Banjar Regent said the bus will be in function this year and asked that this means of transportation be really used by students, who now mostly riding motorcycles, to be safer. 

"Banjar government is very supportive of mass transportation, especially for school students, because it reduces traffic congestion as well as improves safety for school children," he said.
