Banjarmasin, South Kalimantan (Antaranews Kalsel) - East Java fishery entrepreneurs began to look at the large enough fisheries potential of South Kalimantan to be developed into export products.


Business and Investment Section Chief of South Kalimantan Fisheries Agency, Muhammad Aini, in Banjarmasin on Wednesday, said the businessmen from the East Java want to invest for fish farming, especially milkfish, with export quality.

Land prepared for the development of the fisheries sector is still quite extensive make fisheries sector employers of East Java ready to provide financial aid to fishermen in South Kalimantan for the management of milkfish and several other fish species.

Provincial and district governments in South Kalimantan help to facilitate the entrepreneurs to cooperate with the fishermen for pond management and postharvest handling to marketing.

The high investment interest in South Kalimantan, said Aini, because the potential of marine fisheries sector, fishing, aquaculture is still quite large, and worked not a lot.

A total of eight businessmen from East Java fishery was ready to disburse funds and help the fish breeding ponds and ready to accommodate the entire pond crop for export.

South Kalimantan in addition has 1,331,091 kilometers long coastline also has 48 named islands  and outside Pulau Laut and four deltas.

Pulau Laut (Sea Island) is the largest island in the region of Kalimantan and has a coastline of 480 kilometers.
