Kotabaru, South Kalimantan (AntaranewsKalsel) - A total of 175 villages out of 202 villages, or about 86.63 percent of villages in the district of Kotabaru, have already been with electricity.


"175 villages get electricity from PLN, solar power plant (PLTS), micro hydro power (PLTMH), and privately managed power/ generator," said Regent Kotabaru H Irhami Ridjani in national seminar with the theme "Enforcing the Nation's Sovereignty to Support Development of Maritime Technology and Building Kotabaru As Maritime Development Center " in Kotabaru, Wednesday.

Number of PT PLN customers in this district 35,176 with power connected 38,168,350 VA, with power diesel as source (PLTD).

Currently, said Regent through the release, PT PLN Kotabaru building steam power plant (PLTU) with a capacity 2X7 MW, with the physical progress of the construction of approximately 82 percent.

Regent added, plans for industrial power plant 2 x 350 MW, and the power grid interconnection plan Kalimantan-Pulau Laut.

"Kotabaru also have an opportunity to build steam-fueled power plant (PLTU) to cover the shortage of electricity in the region," he said.

Earlier, General Manager of PT PLN Branch Kotabaru Basuki Rahman, said 171 villages in Kotabaru, get electric service from the State Electricity Company (PLN).

"Until now there are 30 villages in Kotabaru are not getting the services of electricity. And the villages that have not received the service forced to use non-government-run electricity or private, the cost is quite high and burden the people," he said.
