The District Government of South Hulu Sungai (HSS) won the 2020 Human Rights Care District for the national level from the Indonesian Ministry of Law and Human Rights.

HSS Deputy Regent Syamsuri Arsyad in Banjarbaru, Monday (Dec 14, 2020) expressed his gratitude to all those who have supported the applying of human rights to deliver the district to win the award for the umpteenth time.

"HSS congratulates the 72nd World Human Rights Day in 2020, hopefully in the future, we can continue to maintain and increase our efforts to upright human rights in HSS," he said.

Deputy regent received the award from Acting Regional Secretary of South Kalimantan Roy Rizali Anwar at the commemoration of the 72nd World Human Rights Day with the theme "Stand Up for Human Rights" in Dr. KH. Idham Chalid Building of the South Kalimantan Provincial Office in Banjarbaru.

The commemoration this year was centered at the Ministry of Law and Human Rights in Jakarta. The event was connected directly via Zoom Meeting application to the Hall of Graha Pengayoman of the ministry.

President H. Joko Widodo said that the government has the same commitment that respecting, protecting, and fulfilling human rights are important pillars for Indonesia to become more civilized, tougher, and more advanced nation.

“Civil rights, political rights, as well as economical, social, and cultural rights must be protected in a balanced manner and none of them are neglected," he said in an interview.
