A total of 5,292 fresh confirmed cases were recorded in Indonesia in the last 24 hours, thereby bringing the count to 586,842, with 1,194 cases from Jakarta within the last day.
The Task Force for COVID-19 Handling also reported on Tuesday that the country added 4,295 new recoveries and 133 deaths in the last 24 hours.
The cumulative count of patients making a recovery from COVID-19 as of December 8, 2020, stood at 483,497, while the number of patients succumbing to the disease climbed by 133 to reach 18 thousand since the government announced its first two confirmed cases on March 2, 2020.
The Task Force’s data indicated cases of COVID-19 transmission in 33 provinces. Maluku was the only province to have no coronavirus infection cases on Tuesday.
Jakarta registered the highest number of confirmed cases, while the number of recoveries stood at 1,189 and deaths at 21.
Central Java recorded an additional 768 cases, with 423 patients recovering and six patients dying of the disease; West Java clocked an additional 731 cases, 742 recoveries, and six patient deaths; and East Java added 542 cases, 529 recoveries, and 49 patients succumbing to COVID-19.
On Dec 3, 2020, Indonesia recorded 8,369 fresh cases within 24 hours, the highest ever, with Papua Province contributing 1,755 cases; West Java, 1,648 cases; and Jakarta, 1,153 cases.
