The Tanah Bumbu Agriculture Agency claimed to have implemented the central government food security program through food self-sufficiency by boosting rice production in all its sub-districts.
Head of the agency Faurazi Akbar through Head of Food Crops and Horticulture Roby Candra in Batulicin on Thursday said that rice production target in the period of October-March 2019 was about 17,014 hectares or equivalent to 90,108 ton rice.
"As for April-September 2020 the target was about 7,000 hectares or 32,200 tons," he said.
He said the rice land target in the 2020 period has all met, even a surplus of about 14 hectares in October-March 2019.
From the tens of thousands of hectares of rice field, the district government was able to meet the rice needs of the local people.

The area of Tanah Bumbu that produced the most rice was Kusan Hilir Sub-district around 32,788 tons from 6 thousand hectares. Then Kusan Hulu 26,152 tons from 2,488 hectares.
To meet the target, the agency provided rice development assistance in the form of seeds and agriculture tools, and machinery through farmer groups and building irrigation using the 2020 state budget.
"So far, farmers in Tanah Bumbu rely on the rainfed rice field, but they use superior seeds of ceherang and invari," he said.
