Head of Banjarmasin Education Agency Totok Agus Daryanto stated his determination to spur schools in the city to become adiwiyata schools.

Adiwiyata school is a school that cares about the environment."It is healthy, clean, and beautiful," said Totok Agus Daryanto when riding a gowes bicycle and visited the state junior high school SMPN 18 in Kelayan, Saturday.

Totok was riding together with some officials of the agency, the South Kalimantan National Narcotics Agency (BNNP), and environmental organization Forum Komunitas Hijau, to visit schools.

The three elements had been riding several times and they planned to continue, with the aim to boost the quality of schools, especially in the environmental sector, including cleanlinesss, greening, gardening, as well as education on the danger of drugs.

According to Totok, with the adiwiyata program, it is hoped that the entire school people will be aware of the need for a green environment as a healthy environment. 

On the visit to SMPN 18, they were welcomed by the school headmaster Siti Fatimah and teachers. They then planted green trees in the school environment.

The trees planted included soursop, tamarind, orange, red areca nut, avocado, cinnamon, and bintaro.
