The Banjarmasin City Government through the Education Office is preparing to conduct face-to-face learning in schools seeing that COVID-19 cases continue to decrease.

"We plan to start in early November to resume face to face school in green zones," said the head of the office Totok Agus Daryanto in Banjarmasin, Friday.

According to him, the trial for the face-to-face school this November is only for the level of junior high school (SMP). "While for SD (elementary school) we plan it in early 2021," he said.

The draft rule for the limited face-to-face school implementation, he said, has met the standard. However, it still needs to be approved by the Chief of the City Task Force Acting Mayor H Hermansyah.

"This is not final yet, because we will report it to the Acting Mayor. If it is approved, then there will be a circular for the trial," he said.

Totok said, school readiness is number one. There are procedures related to strict implementation of COVID-19 health protocol that schools must comply with before conducting it.

"Face-to-face school must applies procedures, among are related to school culture. For example, shaking hands with teachers is (now) eliminated, because there is no physical contact," he said.
