Banjarmasin, South Kalimantan (Antaranews) - Head of South Kalimantan Education Agency Ngadimun revealed, the provincial government has set a target that each village at least has one Early Childhood Education program (PAUD).

"The target of each village to have at least one PAUD is to improve the quality of future generations in our region," he said in Banjarmasin on Monday.

According to him, school children through early childhood education have better quality than children who directly entering elementary school (SD), both in terms of behavior, independence and intelligence.
"The existence of early childhood education is very necessary, especially in the regions to prepare the increasingly qualified next generation," he said.

He stated, in essence the issue of early childhood education is the responsibility of the district and municipal government , but the provincial government will help to meet the target in accordance with procedures and applicable regulations.

"For example in facilities, such as playground equipment for children through the province budget (APBD), and an effort for assistance from the central government," he said.

Other form of help is training for early childhood teachers, especially those from the local area, in order to provide early childhood education in their home town.

"We hope that the local government could send local high school graduates, who can be educated as early childhood teachers, in order to improve the quality of education in the future," he said.

He said the existence of PAUD, particularly in the area is still very limited, but the benefits are great for improving the quality of education in the future. "Because of that, we will drive villages that do not have PAUD to set it up, given the existence of early childhood education in villages in South Kalimantan only 77 percent," he said.
