Banjarmasin, South Kalimantan (Antaranews) - The Central Statistics Agency (BPS) recorded South Kalimantan's inflation rate down again in August 2014.


Chief of the local BPS Dyan Pramono Effendy said here on Monday, the rate of inflation in South Kalimantan last August was only 0.01 percent or down 0.67 percent compared to July 2014.

At a press conference at his Office, he said, inflation rate in South Kalimantan in July 2014 was at 0.68 percent, down compared to June 2014 when it experienced a 0.81 percent inflation, as well as inflation in June 2014 decreased 0, 19 percent compared to May 2014.

He explained that the South Kalimantan inflation rate in August 2014 was in combination of Banjarmasin City inflation at 0.02 percent and of Tanjung, the capital of Tabalong, deflation of 0.12 percent.

While the cumulative inflation rate in South Kalimantan in 2014 (August 2014 to December 2013) is 3.23 percent or equal to the state of the previous month (July 2014).

While the inflation rate "year on year" (yoy) in the province which is now reaching a population of four million people recorded in August 2014, down 4.14 percent compared to 5.40 percent the previous month.

In Banjarmasin, whose nickname the city of a thousand rivers, the cumulative inflation rate in August 2014 is 3.15 percent (earlier 3.13 per cent), and the rate of inflation "yoy" 3.93 per cent (earlier 5.23 per cent).

Commodity price increases with the share of the highest inflation in Banjarmasin in August 2014, among others, the rate of hospital, prescription drugs, electricity, rice, sweet breads, maintenance/service, wet shrimp, and medical specialists.

While the share price decline with the highest deflation include air freight, onion, snakehead fish (Haruan), eggs, chicken meat, garlic, tomatoes, oranges, round scads (ikan layang), and seluang fish.
