The beautiful atmosphere will be the first you experience, with the stretch of green rice fields, a reservoir with wooden footbridge, and a typical resting place of the village that bring a peaceful and quiet nuances.
That is the picture when we set a foot in Kampung Jawa of Jaro Village, which is about 60 kilometers from the city of Tanjung, Tabalong District.
The kampong does not necessarily exist with all its beauty. In 1980s, when transmigrant residents occupied the location, there was nothing to enjoy.
The people then worked to make various changes to make their village a beautiful village.
The efforts and enthusiasm of the villagers apparently attracted the local government and private sector to take their part in developing the village.
Yana Mulyana, the agriculture extension worker of the Tabalong Agriculture Office who is accompanying Jaro Village, said Kampung Jawa has the support of the district government as well as PT Adaro Indonesia.
It has not only a vast rice field, but also the potential cattle farming.
Coaching was then carried out related to cattle farming, managing cattle waste, both solid and liquid waste to be used as compost and liquid fertilizer.
The straw, which previously burned, was then used as cow feed. While sawdust was used for making oyster mushroom baglog which is being developed.
With a better village administration and waste management so as not to pollute the environment, eventually in 2020 the Kampung Jawa of Jaro Village was elected to take part in the Climate Village Program (Proklim) at the national level.
Based on the field data verification previously, Kampung Jawa obtained a middle-level Proklim.
Now, Kampung Jawa is being glanced as one of the tourist destinations, but several supporting buildings, such as the reservoir has not completed yet and due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the village considered not to open it to the public.
Hopefully, the beauty of Kampung Jawa can provide benefits and inspiration to more people.
