The Banjarmasin Orphanage Forum made a visit for a comparative study to the oldest orphanage in South Kalimantan, which is located in Alabio, North Hulu Sungai (HSU) District.


Chairman of the forum Ilyannoor said, the group of 60 orphanage representatives visited the Muhammadiyah Alabio orphanage which is 82 years old.
 
Prior to the oldest orphanage, they first visited Siti Khadijah orphanage in Rantau, Tapin District.

"This orphanage is also old, 30 years," he said.

Ilyannoor said the forum in 2020 received a grant from the city government to carry out various activities, including tahfiz competition, making a COVID-19 poster for cleanliness and beauty, and a comparative study.

The comparative study was carried out on Saturday (Sept 5, 2020) to two orphanages that were considered worthy of being emulated.

"(They both) not only experienced but also made many achievements, producing successful alumni, even sitting in the government," he said.

The caretaker, H Ahmad Yusri S.Sos, MAP told many alumni of the orphanage have achieved a better future. A number of outstanding alumni were able to set foot in the Presidential Palace. Including those who become officials and others.

Meanwhile, the Chairman of Siti Khadijah Rantau orphanage HM. Suadi SAg shared stories about the achievement of his foster children, including 1st place in the orphanage competition in the provincial level and top 10 representing South Kalimantan at the national level.

The orphanage cares for 90 neglected children who have the potential to no longer continue their schooling.

The representative of the Banjarmasin Social Office Dr. Ibnu Sabil said that the agency supported the comparative study and hoped that the orphanages in the city to be more advanced.
