The Banjarmasin Water Police Unit (Satpolair) in collaboration with the City's Fisheries Office spread 10,000 fish seeds in the waters area of Pulau Pulau Bromo, South Banjarmasin, Wednesday.
The Banjarmasin Police Chief Sr Comr Police (Kombespol) Rachmat Hendrawan said it was a good form of cooperation with the Fisheries Office to maintain the sustainability and balance of fish ecosystem.
"Yes, we spread 10,000 pangasius (ikan patin) and kelabau (freshwater fish of goldfish family) fish seeds with the aim to maintain the preservation and balance of the fish ecosystem and we do this routinely every year," he said.
What was done, he said, was in line with the South Kalimantan Provincial Police Chief Insp.Gen. (Irjen Pol) Nico Afinta work program, namely to establish cooperation and partnership with local government, TNI, stakeholders, and all elements of society.

He asked residents along the riverbanks and fishermen if they see or find people who catch fish using fish poison or fish shocker/fish stunner in the Banjarmasin waters jurisdiction to immediately report to the police.
“We will take legal process if anyone caught red-handed using fish-tools that are prohibited by the government,” he said.
