The government of Tanah Bumbu, South Kalimantan, will immediately distribute one million masks to its residents as it continues an effort to stop the coronavirus.

Regent of H. Sudian Noor in Batulicin on Saturday said, the distribution of masks will adapt the number of population in each village or urban village.

"Actually almost all people in Tanah Bumbu already have masks, but with this breakthrough they will have additional masks as reserves," he said.

It might be some residents do not wear masks, because their masks are washed or dirty, he said. while the new free distribution of masks is to put down the COVID-19 cases.

To succeed the program, the local government will hire tailors in each village to produce masks with the aim to encourage their economy.

The regent stated that a regent decree (perbup) will be issued to apply sanctions to people who violate the health protocol.

It will be started from the government employees (state civil Apparatus/ASN) as an example in self-disciplining to prevent the transmission of COVID-19.

"The sanctions to be imposed, if an official is an obligation to provide ten kilograms of rice to the poor, while staff or not civil servants is five kg," concluded the regent.
