The Balangan government, South Kalimantan, disbursed billion of rupiah as assistance to increase the construction of places of worship and religious activities in the district area.

Balangan Regent H Ansharuddin through Head of People's Welfare (Kesra) of the Balangan Administration H Albani Abas said the value of assistance varied, from Rp18 million to Rp150 million.

"44 activities were awarded grants, including places of worship, majelis ta'lim (religious learning), customary hall, Islamic boarding schools in two sub-districts, namely Juai and Halong, with varied assistance from Rp18 million to Rp150 million," he said.

The grant fund is sourced from the 2020 budget (APBD) through People's Welfare Dept, which amounts to Rp1,7 billion.

"The Rp1,7 billion miliar divided into 44 activities, 31 for Halong and 13 for Juai sub-district," he said.

The grant assistance was to support community service program and activities, particularly in religious and social activities in Balangan.

"The requirements to obtain grant assistance for an organization must be legal entities or registered certificates (SKT) at the Balangan National and Political Unity Office (Kesbangpol)," he explained.

Sometime before, Regent H Ansharuddin hoped the grants that were channeled will provide comfort for Muslim and non-Muslim in performing worship and increasing religious activities in mosques, langgar (places smaller than mosque), churches and vihara.
