Chairman of the Indonesian Red Cross (PMI) Jusuf Kalla will seek to increase the blood plasma production equipment to help the people of South Kalimantan in the treatment of COVID-19 patients.

"We will try to help add equipment for a blood plasma production in South Kalimantan. Maybe by bringing the equipment in Jakarta to be used here," he said, Thursday.

According to the former Vice President of Indonesia, all parties must unite to reduce COVID-19 cases in all regions of the country in various ways.

Including by spraying or sterilizing all public places, using musks and other health protocol, in addition to a lot of equipment to accelerate the prevention.

"Our visit to South Kalimantan in the context of coordination with all parties and effort to mobilize PMI volunteers to support the performance of task force, TNI, Polri, and all other relevant parties," he pointed out.

Jusuf Kalla also visited a to be special room to produce blood plasma for COVID-19 patients at the Banjarmasin Blood Donation Unit (UDD).

He suggested this PMI unit to self produce blood plasma. At present, he together with the government are still trying to add supporting equipment here.

"Supporting equipment is still being worked on. This equipment is important, so South Kalimantan can produce itself the blood plasma for COVID-19 patients," he said.

Head of UDD PMI Banjarmasin doctor Aulia Ramadhan Supit acknowledged that the need for blood plasma is very large as the use of Convalescent Plasma Therapy (TPK) became an alternative methode of healing COVID-19 patients.

UDD PMI Banjarmasin makes effort to produce blood plasma independently by coordinating with the PMI Banjarmasin in order the provincial government willing to assist to provide the supporting equipment for production.

"The human resources (HR) and place are ready, but we still lack of some equipment," he added.
