Tanjung, South Kalimantan ( Antaranews ) - For the reason of shortage of gas supply production, Pertamina's exploration and production assets V Tanjung field turn off Tabalong iconic monument torch.

Legal and Social Assistant Manager of Pertamina EP Field Assets V Tanjung, Himawan Djatmiko on Tuesday said the current operational requirement for gas production reached 2 million standard cubic feet ( scf ), while gas production just over 1.8 million scf.

"Monument torch in Mabuun forced to be turned off because gas production is still less than the operational production only reached 1.8 million scf," he said adding this condition is not related to the output of two oil and gas wells in the subdistrict of Tanta namely N-01 and N-03.

Meanwhile, in the day a Mabuun torch monument let out gas reached 30 thousand scf. That is why in the conditions of gas production decreased, Pertamina forced to turn off the torch.

"We expect the project to PT Pertamina Hulu Energy (PHE) Tanjung Methane which has started to explore methane in Walangkir Village, Subdistrict Tanta, could help meet the needs of gas," added Himawan.

Previously , Pertamina also shut down the gas supply in the Pertamina housing complex reaching 19 to 25 scf.

Turning off Mabuun torch monument once occurred in the January 5, 2013 due to lack of gas production in Tabalong and can only be ignited on March 1, 2013.
