Banjarmasin, South Kalimantan (Antaranews) - The Banjarmasin city government plans to reorganize the  Pekapuran Village into a ketupat culinary center.

" The plan is a derelict building on the banks of the River Martapura in Pekapuran be evicted, because that location will be used as ketupat culinary center," said Head of Banjarmasin Tourism, Culture, Youth and Sports Agency Subhan Yaumil here on Tuesday.

Meanwhile embankments or siring will be built along the river just like Jalan Sudirman and Jalan Tendean Pire.

It will be easier for tourists and visitors come to the center through the river or by land. There will probably be dock for small boats.

Citing information from the Banjarmasin Water Resources and Drainage Agency, siring development in the village Pekapuran not a problem because the funds will be obtained through the help of the central government through the River Center (Balai Sungai) for Ministry of Public Works (PU). While Banjarmasin municipal government will finance settlement building exemption up to be a wonderful area for culinary tourism.

Based on the record number of ketupat artisans in the village Pekapuran difficult to count, because they spread in the RT 1, RT 2, RT 3, RT 4, RT 5, RT 6, and RT 7.

At first they merely the local indigenous population who make ketupat, but after it making the economic potential of so promising that many recent immigrants are also chimed into the ketupat craftsmen.
