South Kalimantan Regional Police chief Insp.Gen. Yazid Fanani reminded the public to heed the government's call to avoid crowds outside home and limiting social interaction to curb the novel coronavirus outbreak.

"All ranks have carried out large-scale patrols to disperse every time people crowd," Yazid Fanani said in Banjarmasin, Monday (March 23, 2020).

The results were, said the police chief, police in the field still found many places to hang out, such cafes and the like, were still open.

"We ask the understanding of business owners, such as cafes, to help support the government policy. Don't just think about the profit and loss of business without regard to the greater interest of public health," he pointed out.

Decisive action by the police to disperse any crowd, following the National Police Chief's Edict No. Mak/2/III/2020 concerning Compliance with Government Policies in Handling Coronavirus (COVID-19).

All activities that make mass-gathering are temporarily suspended until conditions are conducive to the pandemic of COVID-19.

"So comply with the government's call to stay at home, keep your distance and reduce interaction with many people. Coronavirus transmission occurs due to the contact of one person to another in close distance. We must break the chain of outbreak of this virus and people has an important role to curb it," said the police chief again.

Yazid asserted CoronaVirus outbreak should not be considered trivial. Especially after one person in Banjarmasin City has tested positive and is now undergoing treatment at the Ulin Regional General Hospital.

Even in Indonesia on Sunday (March 22) there were 514 positive cases and 48 people died. The addition of new cases on Sunday at 13.00 WITA (Central Indonesia Time) as many as 64 people from various regions.
