The determination was expressed in a video conference between Governor Sahbirin Noor and all reagents and mayors at the Provincial Government's Command Center in Banjarbaru, Sunday (March 22, 2020).

The governor stated that the provincial government keeps taking intensive steps in preventing highly infectious COVID-19. It is very important that all stakeholders increase cooperation in dealing with the threat.

"I hope we all can carry out our role as well as possible and together overcome the corona problem,” Uncle Birin, the familiar nickname of the governor, pointed out in the event attended by the Regional Secretary Abdul Haris Makkie and the South Kalimantan COVID-19 Task Force.

He insisted on regents and mayors to take various preventive measures, thus people remain calm and promote a healthy lifestyle and stay at home.

"Move together for our healthy region," he said.

Governor said that from March 22, 2020, he had raised the status of South Kalimantan from emergency alert to emergency response in facing the COVID-19.

He also asked regents and mayors to prepare isolation rooms in hospitals in their respective areas and to tighten checks at the entrance, both at the airport and port.

Regarding budget utilization, the regional governments are expected to use the maximum to prevent COVID-19 and according to regulations.

Meanwhile, Regent of Tabalong Anang Syahkfiani reported that the district was still negative of the virus up to March 22, 2020. The regent has declared emergency alert since March 16, 2020.

The task force has screened several points because Tabalong geographically has a direct border with East Kalimantan and Central Kalimantan.

Regent of South Hulu Sungai (HSS) Achmad Fikry said, his team had made the maximum effort for prevention, including allocating the budget, closing tourist areas, improving health services, preparing isolation rooms, and joint prayers.
