Central Hulu Sungai (HST) government develops freshwater fish, climbing perch (locally popular as papuyu), as one of the district excellent program, said Deputy Regent Berry Nahdian Forqan.
The deputy regent speaking as he attended the South Kalimantan Inflation Control Team (TPID) working meeting at the Governor Office in Banjarbaru, Thursday (Feb 27, 2020).
The meeting was to formulate the strategy to control inflation in the province this year, especially in facing the Ramadhan and Eid.
Governor H Sahbirin Noor in his remarks said, the efforts to control inflation are an important factor in maintaining the regional economic growth climate, as inflation has a direct impact on people's purchasing power.
Throughout 2019 the highest inflation occurred in January 0,81%, April 0,93%, and May 0,93%. While in January 2020 South Kalimantan inflation was recorded at 0,31% with an inflation rate of 3,07% (year on year).

The governor hoped the TPID in their meeting to develop measurable programs throughout the first semester. "The programs that refer to the 4 K principle, namely price affordability, supply availability, smooth distribution, and effective communication," he pointed out.
Head of Bank Indonesia's South Kalimantan Representative Amanlison Sembiring added, "Strategies need to be implemented, to be more focused and effective. Inflation pressure indicates the trend to be faced, such as Ramadhan and Eid al-Fitr."

Meanwhile, Deputy Regent Berry Nahdian Furqon said, for HST, inflation in 2019 was relatively balanced and the factors were not different from other regencies, such haruan (snakehead fish) and some food commodities.
"There are several excellent programs that we will work on in HST, one of which is developing papuyu fish culture and the availability of large enough swamps to make papuyu fish one of our superior programs," he said.

At present, HST also has kampung papuyu and kampung haruan program which is expected to develop and maintain fish commodities in the district.
