Executive Secretary of the Indonesian Rubber Producers Association (Gapkindo) branch of South Kalimantan Hasan Yuniar said coronavirus that hits China is now beginning to disrupt the province's rubber export.

According to him, currently eight South Kalimantan exporters supply rubber to China with a total volume of export 20 percent of the total province rubber export 26 thousand tons per month.

"Some Chinese importers have gradually begun to make a reduction, because of several obstacles due to coronavirus outbreak," he said in Banjarmasin, Monday (Feb 17, 2020).

The coronavirus (COVID-19) outbreak has also caused the delays in payments by importers, while at the same time they asked for the acceleration of export for the reason of traffic disruption in China.

"We hope that the obstacles experienced by our rubber exporters will not harm rubber farmers in our region," he said.

Meanwhile, to anticipate the spread of COVID-19 in Indonesia, Gapkindo asked the government to sterilize the entry of export goods containers from China.

In addition to coronavirus, the decline in South Kalimantan rubber exports was also caused by the trade war between America and China.

Currently, South Kalimantan rubber export destinations are Japan, America, China, Europe, and several other Asian countries.
