A typical house with a high roof (Rumah bubungan tinggi), which is a traditional house of Banjar, in Tarangan Village, Paringin, Balangan Regency, is being observed by the East Kalimantan Cultural Heritage Conservation Center (BPCB) team of Kalimantan Work Area.


Head of the BPCP of Kalimantan Work Area, Muslimin AR Effendi, said the observation took several days. The plan is the team to carry out a detailed recording of every part of the building.

"Accompanied by the Head of Culture of the of Balangan Education and Culture Agency Kamal and the building owner, it takes two to three days to record details of each part of the building, in addition to documentation," he explained.

Observation of the traditional Banjar building to ensure the level of site skills. Then make a priority scale about how and what needs to be done to maintain its sustainability.

"The results of the study will be made policy or what steps are taken to ensure cultural preservation is maintained, including related to building damage," he said.

According to him, the Bubungan Tinggi Traditional House is one of the remaining Banjar houses in Balangan Regency, which is not much in number.

Besides fulfilling cultural aspects, the lack of family conflict in terms of building ownership makes BPCB and related agencies more free to preserve. With direct data collection, it proves the existence of serious handling steps.

"We advise the homeowner not to change the shape on the outside. Especially if the renovation is done," he advised.

"But for the inside are welcome. While the exterior is maintained as the original building," he appealed.
