Regent of Kotabaru H Sayed Jafar led the groundbreaking of the Siratal Mustaqin Mosque re-building in Sebelimbingan Village Km 15, Pulau Laut Utara Sub-district. The mosque suffered a fire accident in 1955.
Head of the construction committee of the mosque, H Adi Sutomo said, the rebuilding of the mosque is aimed to make it easier for the local people, especially Sebelimbingan and Megasari villagers, to carry out daily worship services, particularly Friday prayer.
"All this time, most of the villagers of Sebelimbingan and Megasari have to go as far as 7 kilometers to reach the nearest mosque," said H Adi sutomo, who is also head of the Kotabaru National and Political Unity Office (Kesbangpol).
The Siratal Mustaqin Mosque is located at the Km 15 of Jalan Raya Kotabaru - Tanjung Serdang or right at the market complex, where it was burnt on Juli 19, 1955. The mosque to be rebuilt only measures 12X15 meters.

The regent said he welcomed the re-construction of the mosque, considering of building a place of worship is part of the broadcasting of Islam.
Hopefully, he said, this mosque will really be useful for the people of Sebelimbingan and Megasari Village, as well as travelers who pass by.
"Because it is located on the side of the road, it makes it easier for people who pass by performing prayer when entering prayer time or people who just stop over to take a rest to eliminate fatigue," said the regent.

When the reconstruction is completed, the regent hoped, the community here to prosper the mosque, and they can make it as a center of religious education.
The groundbreaking ceremony was also attended by Chairwoman of the Kotabaru Family Welfare Movement (TP PKK), Regional Leader Coordination Forum (Forkopimda), heads of government agencies, head of Pulau Laut Utara sub-district, religious figures, community leaders, and invited guests.
