Sultan Adam Public Forest Park (Tahura) in Mandiangin, Banjar District, South Kalimantan, seemed to be always full of tourists during the year-end long holiday season.

Playing in a waterfall pool and feeding deer are the most popular activities for visitors, especially children.

"We, a group of one family, are happy to come here if we happen to be on vacation to Banjarmasin. Especially when it is rainy season, children can play in the water in the Mandiangin nature," Novy, a visitor from Kotawaringin Timur, Central Kalimantan, said on Monday (Dec 30, 2019).

Sultan Adam's ecotourism in Mandiangin offers unspoiled nature tourism. Visitors are invited to be in the middle of forest in which there is a Kalimantan endemic animal habituation center.

In addition to sambar deer, there are also a variety of animals of typical tropical rainforests of Kalimantan, such as sun bears, binturung or large and long-tailed weasels, no-tailed primate gibbons, to kelulut honey bees whose honey products can be enjoyed a visitor.

Visitors who want to enjoy nature from high above can visit the summit of Bukit Besar (high hills) at the Dutch fort.

The South Kalimantan Forestry Agency as the manager has also built a number of parks and shelters and various decorations for contemporary photo objects can be shared on social media.

The Head of the Technical Implementation Unit Rahmad Riansyah acknowledged, the community visit was very crowded last week.

As on Monday (30/12), there were 578 entry tickets for adult visitors, with 136 tickets for two-wheeled vehicles and 81 for four-wheeled and 42 for adult groups.

"Tahura Sultan Adam was closed to the public for quite a long time during the last dry season which is prone to forest and land fires. Now entering the rainy season it has been reopened and has begun to be visited, especially during long school holidays," explained Rahmad.
