A Sub-district Social Welfare Worker (TKSK) of Bintang Ara, Tabalong, Syahrianor Arifin, gained the national nomination as one of the 2019 social exemplary pillars.

This is because of a number of his innovation, namely Oyster mushroom (Pleurotus ostreatus) cultivation, crispy mandai, and red lemon grass oil for massage all have proven to improve the local residents economy.

Mandai is a unique dish of Banjar tribe. It is made from the peel of cempedak. It is cooked in various menus, can even be stored for a long time.  

"Through this innovation I want to lift the economy of Bintang Ara residents," Syahrianor remarked.

The massage oil made of red lemon grass is quite popular in addition to its usefulness the price is affordable Rp20,000 for a 30 mm package.

All these innovation, included the crispy mandai made of cempedak skin, have attracted the Social Affairs Ministry's assessment team.

"They came not only to see first hand all the innovation, but with villagers they visited the remote customary communities (KAT) in Bumi Makmur Village," Syahrianor told.

Here, the team have done an interview with the community related to the existance and role of TKSK among them.

"The team came to make sure to what extent the TKSK gives benefit for the local community," Head of Tabalong District Social Agency Yuhani said.

The result of the assessment of 15 sub-district Social Welfare Workers as the 2019 social exemplary pillars will be announced at the peak of the national social solidarity day (HKSN) in Banjarbaru December 2019.
