Chairman of the Banjar Cultural Harmony (KBB) H. Rudy Ariffin confirmed that the fifth Banjar Cultural Congress will take place November 28-30 in Banjarmasin and it is expected to further explore the potential of Banjar people everywhere.

The congress, which held every three years, is the silaturrahmi (gathering) of Banjar relatives from all over the archipelago. It brings together figures of culture, history, language, art, and people of Banjar tribe.

Rudy Ariffin, in his dialogue with the Banjar Relation Gathering Forum(FSKB) members led by it chairman Mohammad Ary at his residence in Banjarbaru, Thursday night (Oct 31, 2019), said the discussion of the congress will extent to development of potential cooperation in the field of education and trade among kulaan Banjar (Banjar relatives).

"As we all understand one of the driving forces of urang (people of) Banjar to go overseas is trading, because urang Banjar has an entrepreneurial spirit," he pointed out.

By the increasingly easy access of rtansportation and communication in the era of industrial revolution then the network of silaturrahmi of kulaan Banjar can mutually support and develop business acros countries.

Beside culture and entrepreneurship, the human resources can be developed through education as well considering the ASEAN Economic Community has begun since 2015. Thus the students of South Kalimantan can study abroad as well as the local educational institution, both public and religious, can accept Banjar students from overseas to expand their insight and network of partnership.

On the occasion, FSKB members, who have just coming from their journey of exploring Malaysia and several neighboring countries, reported how high the spirit of Banjar people overseas to participate in the Banjar Cultural Congress.

Muhammad Ary told that they have met the Kerian District Officer Mohammad Sabli bin Bakri, who is the descendant of the Banjar people, they also met a Banjar lecturer of the Universitas Pendidikan Sultan Idris (UPSI) Tanjung Malim, some figures of Pertubuhan Banjar Malaysia (PBM) in Gombak, Kuala Lumpur, where the Mayor of Banjarmasin Ibnu Sina also attended.
