Banjarmasin, S Kalimantan (ANTARA) - Today the fifth Banjar Cultural Congress (KBB) begins and is scheduled to take place until December 1, 2019 in Banjarmasin. The congress will feature speakers from three countries, Malaysia, Brunei Darussalam, and Singapore, in addition to present national and local (Banua) speakers.
This was revealed during the final prepatory meeting chaired by Head of the Culture Development of South Kalimantan Education and Culture Agency Akhmad Subakti at the agency's office here, Wednesday (Nov 27, 2019).
Banjar figures from abroad as speakers, included Nola Nola Zain Salman from Singapore. she will speak about the Role and Orientation of Women from the Past and Contemporary Banjar in Strengthening the Identity and Values of Singapore's Banjar Culture.
H Burhan Kasim from Malaysia will bring the theme Economic Actualization, Explanation of Banjar Cultural Values and the Current Era of Malaysia. He if unable to attend will be replaced by Prof. Saleh Lamri.
From Brunei Darussalam, there is a businessman from Banjar who lives in Bandar Sri Begawan, and he is a Banjar figure in Brunei Darussalam, Bang Saiful Al-Hadie.

Some local and national Banjar figures will also appear as speakers, including H Rudy Arifin to present Strategy to Strengthening Role and Function of Bearing of Banjar Culture, Reflection of Culture in the Region of Origin and Overseas.
Prof Dr Mujiburahman will speak about Banjar Culture Orientation, the Past, Present, and Future, while Prof Rustam Effendi to appear a theme Development of Banjar Literature, Answering the Challanges of Age, and Mukhlis Maman to bring the theme Increasing the Appreciation of Banjar Arts and Culture, then Dr Abdurrahman to speak on Building the Banjar Identity, and a few others.
The congress, which rises the theme "Silaturrahmi (good relation) to be Tightened, Banjar Culture Values to be Preserved," as a vehicle of preservation and inheritance of noble cultural values of Banjar, is carried out every three years.

The first congress was held in 2007 in the era of government of the late Governor H Syahril Darham.
During the four congresses, some actual issues discussed focused on broadening the silaturrahmi, preservation of culture, appreciation of language, literature, art, and the history of Banjar.

The fifth congress is held when the world is entering the industrial revolution 4.0 era with the advancement of industrial technology that gives us the opportunity to live a distruptive era in which innovation creates a new order of life, all human activities become easier, the old ways are replaced by new technology.
The congress is expected to produce some agreements, including to form a network of merchants to establish collaborations to advance businesses that benefit the Banjar tribe.
At the same time, the network of Banjar intellectuals can synergize to each other in improving knowledge so as to bear a superior generation of Banjar.
