The Environment and Forestry (LHK) Ministry has awarded the Regent of South Hulu Sungai (HSS) H Achmad Fikry for his success in building climate-friendly neighborhood program (Proklim).

Environment and Forestry (LHK) Minister Siti Nurbaya handed over the award to the regent, represented by Head of HSS Public Housing, settlement and Environment (Dispera KPLH) MK Saputra in Jakarta, Wednesday.

"HSS Regent Achmad Fikry together with 44 regional heads of districts and cities across Indonesia were proclaimed as the winners (of this year Proklim), for their success in mitigating climate village," he remarked from Manggala Wanabkti Building of the LHK Ministry Jakarta, Wednesday (2/10).

HSS, he added, has four climate villages, namely Muning Tengah Village in Daha Selatan sub-district, Taniran Selatan Village in Angkinang, Lokbinuang, and Gumbil in Telaga Langsat. 

Of three category of award, namely utama, madya, and pratama, HSS Regent won the utama award for mitigating the villages in dealing with climate change.

In the future, he said, his agency will hold a village competition in cleanliness, beauty, health. Each village represents a sub-district to be given guidance until all are able and are resistance to climate change.
