The Swampland Agriculture Research Institute (Balittra) of the Agriculture Ministry's Indonesian Agency for Agricultural Research and Development and the Lambung Mangkurat University's Faculty of Engineering agreed to develop swampland infrastructure design.
They both signed a Memorandum of understanding (MoU) for implementative infrastructure in swampland.
"After this, we and the engineering lecturers, and students as well, will intensively open research cooperation in all area we foster in our effort to create the implementative infrastructure in developing sustainable swampland," Head of Balittra Hendri Sosiawan remarked in Banjarbaru, Thursay (5/9).

He said this is related to Serasi (means Save swampland Prosper Farmers) program from the Ministry of Agriculture since 2019 so as to make many infrastructure development should be implementative in Sumatra and Kalimantan.
"The target is in two years one million hectare of swampland must be optimalized," he pointed out.

Hendri acknowledged, so far the Balittra has cooperated only with the Faculty of Agriculture, but now it works with the Faculty of Engineering, specifically the Study Program of Civil Engineering.
"I am sure this cooperation with bring a very big impact, because Civil Engineering contribution is very needed in developing swampland, especially in infrastructure design to support agriculture system," he said.
