The Tapin District Government through the Agriculture Office handed over 85,600 laying ducks to 1,710 poverty-stricken households (RTM) in three sub-districts.

The three sub-districts namely Bakarangan 278 RTM or families, Candi Laras Utara 976 families and Candi Laras Selatan as many as 456 poor families.

Head of the Tapin Agriculture Agency Wagimin said the distribution of the laying ducks was a "Preventing Poverty, Prosper the People" program from the Ministry of Agriculture.

"Of the 85,600 laying ducks, each RTM will receive 50," Wagimin said in Rantau, Monday (2/9).

In addition to receiving ducks, the Ministry of Agriculture program beneficiary received 150 kilograms of feed, vitamins and medicines, and a fund of Rp500 thousand for building of a cage.

"We took the RTM data that received this assistance from the Ministry of Social Affairs, but previously we have re-verified the data in the field," he said.

Wagimin explained, the Ministry of Agriculture's program aims to increase the supply of animal protein and household income to become an independent and prosperous society.

"We believe that reducing poverty on an agricultural basis is ideal in Tapin District," he said.

Meanwhile, Tapin Regent HM Arifin Arpan hopes that the people who receive this assistance can really develop  it.

"We thank the Ministry of Agriculture, hopefully this assistance can really reduce poverty and prosper the community," he said.
