Trisakti Port operator PT Pelindo III gave out free takjil to thousands of ship passengers who went home (mudik) to various regions in East Java.
The Trisakti Operation Superintendent Masruni here said on Sunday the company was trying to help to comfort the homebound travellers, including by adding to the restroom facilities and distributing free takjil.
According to Masruni, since the last few days, there has been a surge in passengers, that additional supporting facilities are needed, especially toilet facilities for passengers.
"Like tonight, around 1,500 people waited for two departing ships, namely KM Niki Barokah to leave at around 22:00 and KM Kumala at about 23:00," he said.
Despite a surge in passengers at Trisakti Harbor, there were no passengers who had to stay for days like the previous year.
According to him, this year, the ship that came to Banjarmasin was a vessel with a large capacity, so that almost all passengers could be transported.
While purchasing tickets is also provided online, to make it easier for passengers to get tickets, without having to first come to the port.
Previously, the number of travelers in Trisakti Port who wanted to go home to Java Island was booming, making the KM Kumala ship owned by PT Dharma Lautan Utama (DLU) to transport additional passengers.
"After seeing safety equipment such as life jackets still available, then travelers who were previously late in buying tickets are transported to leave today," said Israfulhayat of the Class I Port Authority (KSOP) Banjarmasin.
