Banjarmasin, S Kalimantan (ANTARA) - The atmosphere of the Duta Mall suddenly rumbled with shouts calling "Jokowi" repeatedly.
The presence of the President of the Republic of Indonesia in the biggest modern shopping center in the Thousand Rivers City on Wednesday (3/27) night, surprised all visitors to be so excited about taking pictures.
Jokowi was also very friendly to greet residents and serve requests for "selfies" from residents who seemed surprised at the presence of the number one person in the country.
"Thank God, I can take a picture with Jokowi, even though I have to fight and scramble, but I am grateful and satisfied," said Lisna, one of the residents who managed to get a selfie with Jokowi.
The request for a selfie was very high from the community made Presidential Security Detail (Paspampres) had to work extra hard to escort the president.
Even so, there was not the slightest arrogance that appeared from the selected TNI soldiers. They really understood Jokowi's style which always wanted to be close to the people. Jokowi is a simple figure of a leader who is loved by his people.
"Pak Jokowi indeed advised the guards to give as much space as possible to the people who want to approach. But the important thing is that the people also understand the security of a president must be maintained properly," said Chairman of Jokowi-Ma'ruf Amin National Campaign Team, Erick Thohir, who also accompanied the incumbent presidential candidate for a walk to Duta Mall.
"Pak Jokowi needs to relax as well as take a walk to the mall or traditional market. He also wants to know whether what has been said to be a quiet mall has turned out to be crowded and has high purchasing power. This proves that people's welfare is good," he said
Jokowi himself abandoned his intention to shop because of the many visitors who kept fighting to take pictures until his space was very limited.
