Banjarmasin, S Kalimantan (ANTARA) - South Kalimantan Transportation Agency is ready to operate five Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) to serve people who will be traveling from Banjarmasin to Banjarbaru and vice versa.

 
Head of the Transportation Agency Rusdiansyah here said Saturday the agency had received five BRTs from the Ministry of Transportation. This number is less than the expected aid target of 36 units.
     
According to Rusdiansyah, at the initial stage, the BRT route would only corridor one, starting from the Banjarmasin Kilometer Zero point then passing Jalan Lambung Mangkurat, Hasanuddin HM, turn to Jalan A Yani, and to Banjarbaru.
     
Some of the bus stops will be visited by BRT corridor one include the Ulin General Hospital Banjarmasin , the bus stop under the flyover, in front of Syamsuddin Noor Airport, and several other stops.

Regarding the shortfall in the number of BRTs, he added, his side would request to the central government, so that the expected targets could be met.
     
The plan is the BRT will be operational after the General Election April 17, 2019 has finished.
     
Rusdi hopes this mass transit bus will receive enthusiastic response from the public, moreover the tariffs set are quite cheap, ranging from IDR 5,000 to IDR 8,000 per passenger.
