Banjarmasin, S Kalimantan (Antaranews Kalsel) - Visitors to Teluk Dalam traditional market and Pandu market support the movement to reduce the use of plastic bags for shopping through the million bakul purun ((traditional woven baskets made of certain grass) movement.
One visitor to Teluk Dalam Market, Ida, said Thursday that the movement was very good in reducing plastic waste and maintaining health.
"I am very supportive of this movement, very good, in addition to health, also for the cleanliness of the city," she said after shopping and getting free purun baskets from the Banjarmasin City Government.
The Banjarmasin City Government carried out a movement to reduce the use of plastic bags in traditional markets which was marked by the distribution of five thousand purun baskets free of charge to the people in Teluk Dalam Market.
The distribution of purul baskets will be carried out continuously in other markets in five sub-districts in the city of Banjarmasin, to raise awareness of reducing plastic waste by replacing it using recyclable bags.
According to Ida, the use of purun baskets is also very good for growing the regional industrial sector, besides saving money, because purun baskets can be used repeatedly.
