Kandangan, S Kalimantan (Antaranews Kalsel) - The South Hulu Sungai (HSS) continues to fight dengue fever.  Last Friday all schools students were doing their action to eliminate mosquito nest around them.

Regent HSS H. Achmad Fikry, who monitored the action together with Chairwoman of the district Family Welfare Movement (PKK) Hj Isnaniah A Fikry, Head of Health Agency Hj Siti Zainab, and Head of Kandangan Subdistrict Ronaldy Prana Putra in state junior high school SMPN 1 Kandangan, said the massive-action took place in all school in the district.

"For the first stage the action takes place in schools, because the data shows the dengue attack the school age victims between 4-15 year and between 15-44 year highly enough. We hope after the mass movement in the school it will have an impact on the household environment," he said Friday (1/2) morning.

The following Friday, he said, the action would move again to the village where the points have been determined by the puskesmas and the sub-district head, prioritizing villages which are indeed at a high level of vulnerability.

The Friday action will continue until there are no more signs of dengue fever. The most important of these movements starts from maintaining a clean environment by the community. Not fogging, because fogging doesn't solve the problem, it only kills adult mosquitoes.

Head of SMPN 1 Kandangan Rosalina said approximately 10 students were affected by dengue, so the school tried to anticipate with a five minute clean movement before the lesson began, and five minutes after finishing the lesson.
