Banjarmasin - The Banjarmasin Population and Civil Registration Agency (Disdukcapil) employees came to the prison to record the identity of the inmates for electronic ID (KTP-el).
At the Class IIA Teluk Dalam Penitentiary Banjarmasin, officers recorded their identity, including fingerprints, iris, and photos. Data collection took place from 17 to 19 January 2019.
"This program is simultaneously throughout Indonesia, as ordered by the Ministry of Home Affairs through the Director General of Population and Civil Registration," M Yusuf Effendi, Head Population Registration Service of the Disdukcapil, said at the recording activity in Teluk Dalam Prison on Thursday.
According to him, more than 200 prisoners were targeted, because they had the Banjarmasin Family Card (KK). "From the information we have, many inmates have not been recorded," he explained.
This recording, he stressed, must be done for Indonesians who are 17 years old. Moreover, this is a condition for voters to participate in the democratic fiesta of the legislative and president election on April 17, 2019.
"We have provided the equipment. It can also detect residents who have recorded. 300 pieces of blank are prepared," he said.
The Head of Section II of the Banjarmasin Class IIA Penitentiary Ngatmin ensured that the inmates could exercise their voting rights in the 2019 election. From a total of 2,558 inmates, he admitted, 200 of them domiciled in Banjarmasin and had not recorded data.
