... 43 percent of community public health (puskesmas) in Indonesia do not have dentists.Banjarmasin, S Kalimantan (Antaranews Kalsel) - Lambung Mangkurat University (ULM) Faculty of Dentistry (FKG) conducted the oath taking of seven dentists. This is the 14th oath taking of dentists at ULM.
"They have the right to use the dentist's degree because they have completed the dental profession program at ULM and have their oath taken," said FKG dean Dr. Rosihan Adhani at the Medical Faculty Theater.
To the new dentists, Rosihan said, no need to worry about employment, because 43 percent of community public health (puskesmas) in Indonesia do not have dentists.
New dentists are expected to face the challenge of educating the public regarding dental and oral health care, because in Indonesia only 2.8 percent of the population aged 3 years and over who are brushing their teeth properly.
While ULM Rector Prof. Dr. H. Sutarto Hadi in his written remarks, delivered byVice Chancellor III for Student and Alumni Affairs Dr. Ir. Muhammad Fauzi, hoped the new dentists could implement dental and oral health especially for the people of South Kalimantan, known for its high acidity.
