South Kalimantan PMI Chairman H Gusti Iskandar Sukma Alamsyah, SE expressed his determination on reporters' questions, after awarding voluntary blood donors (DDS) at TreePark Hotel Banjarmasin, Saturday.
He said, to maximize blood needs services in the province with more than four million population, South Kalimantan PMI will add integrated blood service units.
"We have only three integrated blood service units (UPDT), Insya Allah, in the future, at least we add two," said the former member of the Indonesian House of Representatives from the Golkar Party.
"If all this time UPDT in South Kalimantan was only in Banjarmasin, Banjar District and Tanah Laut, we will later add it to Tanah Bumbu and Tabalong District," he continued.
Tabalong UPDT will serve the needs of blood in the "Banua Anam" area which includes Tapin, South Hulu Sungai (HSS), Central Hulu Sungai (HST), North Hulu Sungai (HSU), Balangan, and Tabalong.
While UPDT Tanbu, in addition to the district itself, also serves Kotabaru which is in the easternmost part of South Kalimantan.
Regarding the availability of blood in South Kalimantan, he stated that it is sufficient to meet the needs, because there are a large number of donors in all districts and cities.
"The donors have been registered with the PMI of the district and city, they are ready to come and donate blood when someone needs it. Not to mention donors who are not registered," said Gusti Iskandar.
The award was given to 55 people who donated blood 75 times coupled with the commemoration of the 2018 PMI Volunteer Day.
