Head of BPS's Distribution Statistics Section Fachri Ubadiyah in Banjarbaru, Thursday said inflation in Banjarmasin was 0.10 percent and Tanjung was 0.20 percent.

"The cumulative inflation rate in Banjarmasin in October 2018 against December 2017 was 1.72 percent, and the cumulative inflation rate in Tanjung was 2.14 percent," he said.

Gasoline, wet shrimp, chicken meat, salted mackerel, and gold jewelry contributed the highest inflation in Banjarmasin. However, deflation also occurred in chicken eggs, watermelons, onions, fly fish and soft drinks.

"Inflation in the city of Banjarmasin due to the increase in the Consumer Price Index from 133.24 in September to 133.37 in October, while in Tanjung from 133.06 to 133.32," he said.

He said inflation in Banjarmasin was due to an increase in the expenditure index of transportation, communication, and financial services group by 0.61 percent. Prepared foods, beverages, and tobacco group of 0.02 percent, housing, water, electricity, gas and fuel 0.15 percent, and clothing group 0.35 percent.

"The health group experienced an increase in the index of 0.04 percent, education, recreation and sports group 0.08 percent and foodstuffs fell 0.33 percent," he said.

Meanwhile, in Tanjung, commodities that experienced price increases with the highest share of inflation during October were chicken, gasoline, mustard greens, peda fish, and cucumbers.

While commodities that experienced a decline in prices with the highest share of deflation included onions, chicken eggs, hot chili, and beans.

BPS also recorded CPI of 82 cities, 66 cities experienced inflation with the highest figure in Palu 2.27 percent and the lowest in Cilegon 0.01 percent.
